KISS Says Fans In Oshawa Will Get A 'Special Record-Release Show'

KISS has confirmed that it will perform a special record-release show in Oshawa, the car manufacturing capital of Canada which was recently named the KISS capital after beating out every major city in North America in an online competition to see the band play in their town.

"We are happy to announce that KISS is coming to Oshawa's GM Centre on October 7," the band says in a statement. "After the outpouring of emotion we saw [on Tuesday, August 25], there was no way we could follow our original plan and make you wait until a later tour leg. You'll now be getting a special record-release show. Oshawa, we promise a good time. Stay tuned for details including ticket information. And, for the other cities, we have plans in the works for you, too."

Oshawa City Councillor Robert Lutczyk, who spearheaded the effort to bring the band to town, told the Toronto Sun, "I knew Gene (Simmons) would come through."

The Durham city claimed the number one spot in North America with 14,569 votes, but when the tour schedule was announced Monday, Oshawa wasn't on the list.

"We are working out the details for the concert now. The problem is there is a significant divide between the band members and managers. It's like a government bureaucracy. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand was doing, but I knew Gene would come through on his word," Lutczyk said.
